Important Bacteriostatic Water Disclaimer

Bacteriostatic water is a multiple-dose container. Record the date of the first needle puncture. Current injection-safety guidance recommends discarding an opened multiple-dose vial within 28 days, unless the manufacturer provides a different, specific timeframe. The unopened vial must also be discarded after its printed expiration date. Do not use the vial if the solution is cloudy, discoloured, contains particles, the seal is damaged, or sterility is uncertain. Do not rely on a three-month period after opening.

Bacteriostatic water contains benzyl alcohol and must not be used in neonates. It should not be injected by itself and should only be used according to the instructions for the compatible product being diluted.

Use a new sterile syringe and needle each time. Never reuse syringes or needles, and dispose of used sharps in an approved sharps container.
